This is exactly why I love the internet: because everyone can have their own space, take full creative control of it, disobey the status quo and work on their own vision.
The vintage shopping movement on Instagram is such a beautiful example of that. It almost feels like the good old Ebay days, but better – more visual and . Like the talented Patricia Nygaard, who’s in charge over at Magandapa, where she finds the best vintage and millennium pieces and styles, shoots and edits them in the perfect context: “I’m working to shift the focus of the Instagram vintage community away from whiteness and smallness by creating a safe space to shop that’s inclusive of all femmes, especially WOC and plus size people.”
Much more fun than regular online shops. Instead, sending a direct message to the shop with your email address (plus a fan-girl rant about how much you love the item), then receiving a Paypal invoice. And then the most satisfying moment: seeing the caps locked ‘SOLD’ appear at the end of the caption underneath the picture of the item. This fantastic silver oversized coat is my very first and certainly not last Instagram-purchase.
