DIY / MINIMALIST COAT STAND
/ two metal tubes
/ 3 kilos of plaster
/ small bucket
/ water
images by me
As part of a collaboration with Obscura magazine, I made this minimalist coat/display stand and am super proud that one of the images I shot of it even made it to the cover.
The rack was then also made by the guys of Kapok, a Hong Kong based concept store where the launch of Obscura magazine took place. It is one of the most strange yet amazingly rewarding feelings to see my DIY projects exist on the other side of the world (so please do send me a snapshot on instagram if you decide to make one!). Mine now stands in my workspace where I like to hang the pieces on which I am currently working on, but I can also imagine it in an entry hall or next to a mirror in a bedroom.

A simple construction of two tubes on which you can hang coats as well as hang or display garments.
01/ Make the plaster by adding water, mix two parts powder and one part water.
02/ Pour it in the bucket and let it sit for 10 minutes. Tap the bucket to remove air bubbles.
03/ Now that the plaster is starting to set, put the two metal tubes in the bucket on opposite sides.
04/ Let it harden for about 48 hours and pull the coat stand out of the bucket.
