Having a collection of image based books, magazines and lookbooks, I always find it a pity that most of the time they remain closed. So I made this little book stand to expose their pages and be able to put the content of my books on display. Mine is currently occupied by the pretty ss14 lookbook from Acne, but I can also totally see this bookstand in someone’s kitchen with a cookbook on it.

/ HOW TO

1/ Cut out two rectangles of plexiglass (mine are 21 cm x 16cm).
How to cut the plexiglass: Making an incision with a stanley knife by letting the knife glide along a ruler. Then lay the plate of plexiglass on a table with the slit just over the edge. By pressing down you´ll be able to snap it off with a nice and clean cut. Now you should have a rectangle which you can again break into smaller pieces until you have two rectangles that are of the sizes you need.

2/ Draw a line across the center and with the hand saw cut an incision about one third through. Carefully cut another incision about 2mm parallel to the first. You can use duct tape to keep the previously cut piece together, but if you saw carefully this isn’t necessary. Now you can easily ‘break’ out the little strip of plexiglass between the two cuts. Repeat on the other piece too. The result should look like picture number two.

3/ Slide the two cut outs together, and you’re done!
