I love the fact that this rack floats high above the floor in our hallway. It doesn’t take up any space from the surface of the room because -obviously- it doesn’t even touch the floor. It is a piece of furniture that doesn’t really make the room smaller.
However, there is one practical problem with it, our daughter Lois can not reach it. She can pull her little coats down from the hanger, but when it comes to hanging them back up she can’t reach the rack and dumps her outerwear on the floor. Now that the cold weather started again and I find myself picking up little coats all the time, I thought I’d add a little attachment to out hallway rack, so she can do it herself.
But what I’ve also found is that this efficient little rack-on-rack also creates a lot of new hanging possibilities within the same space. I also added a couple of meat hooks for shoes, to (again) leave the floor empty and let the surface of the floor in the room be as large as possible and visually more empty. How to make it is pretty self explanatory; put the metal cable through the tube, put two loops around your existing rack and you’re all done.
