It is not listed on any booking websites, yet it might be the best hotel to stay in if you really want to get a taste of Amsterdam. You might know Rika as the Swedish label or have seen the Rika magazine, but just across the street from their Amsterdam boutique and head quarters you will also find Maison Rika; a boutique hotel. It is situated in one of the nicest areas of the city; the nine streets. The Acne store is just next door, there are lots of nice vintage boutiques and cute cafes in the neighborhood. The ground floor serves as a lobby and a boutique for luxe home accessories and has the loveliest staff.
When going upstairs it really feels like entering the a cosy, elegant home; beautiful fashion and photography books are lying around, there are art pieces on the wall, Margiela lamps on the night stands and fresh flowers on the window sills, it is decorated by Ulrika Lundren, the founder of Rika herself. The interior isn’t all white like our pictures suggest, but my favorite corners of the Maison are. UK Vogue staff, the Acne studios team and many friends of Ulrika from the fashion industry go here during their stay in Amsterdam. My favorite thing about it is the view, the two rooms of this historical Dutch house overlook the Herengracht canal directly with large window on two sides of the rooms.
